Fall/Winter '06 Fashion Preview
I’ve checked out some of the common threads for fall/winter fashion 2006

As you sit there and wonder if the title of this feature is a typo I’ll
explain that fashion designers are always one step ahead of everyone. Back in
the beginning of the year (we’re talking circa February) while we’re walking
around in flip flops at home pretending it is sunny outside, fashion designers
are already finished with next seasons fall and winter clothing. Confusing
isn’t it?
I know spring and summer have just barely begun and you’re probably in the
middle of or just finished planning your spring/summer wardrobe, nonetheless
a sneak preview of what is to come is in order. Fashion magazines have to, as
designers, be one step ahead as well. Go ahead, have a look at what you might
be wearing next season. One can never be too prepared.

OVERSIZED
Clearly popular among several high fashion designers is the oversized look.
Chloé has definitely based their whole Fall/Winter ’06 collection on being very
comfortable. From oversized trench coats to sweaters, pants and scarves. Look
forward to finally freeing yourself from those tight cigarette jeans next fall!

SKIRTS
This season it is all about the dress, for everyday use and party. This summer
is bound to be full of cute, casual and flirty dresses in every shape, size and
style. Designers all seem to have the same idea about next fall though; the
skirt is it, anything from a short mini skirt with cute frills to a knee length
cotton skirt.

OFF WHITE
Chloé, Chanel, Diane von Furstenberg, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Celine, among
others, all had the same idea – off white. During spring and summer crisp white
colors are very common but fall is always a darker season which is reflected in
our clothing. Although black, beige and grey are very common colors on the
fall/winter runway I wanted to point out this nice creamy color as I quite
like it. When I think of fall I never think of a crisp white color, despite
the color of snow, this off white color is gorgeous. Keep it coming!

SCOTTISH ANYONE?
Yikes! Now here is a trend that seems to be coming on pretty strong as several
designers have decided to go for it this fall/winter. It is going to take some
time for me to warm up to this though; I was never a fan of plaid. These skirts
remind me so much of kilts, not that there is anything wrong with kilts (I
actually like traditions) but I’m not Scottish and kilts are for guys, no?
