Fall Shoes 2006
They’re hot off the runway; it’s what to wear on your feet this fall
By Christina Eriksson 13th August 2006
So far, I’ve given you the low-down on general fall fashion and what bags to
tote but there’s always more to see! Next on the list? Fall shoes: which
styles and heights dominated the runways. With this article, you’ll be prepared
to find a trendy pair of fall shoes.
Ankle boots or booties
Ankle boots were a favorite among many designers. Only reaching up to your
ankle (hence the name) these come in several different colors and styles—from
metallic gold to matte or even patent black, round toe or pointed, and with a
handful of sassy little accents. Ankle boots have already been seen on several
hot celebrities including Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Mary-Kate Olsen. They’re
a big hit here in Sweden too.

Wedges
Platform wedges were popular last season and will continue on as big hits this
fall. Wooden soles are common as well as soles in darker shades such as grey,
brown and black. Both low and high wedges are suitable for fall fashion. Just
wear them with tights or knee high stockings as the temperature drops.

Unbelievable heights
Spring and summer fashion introduced us to shockingly high heels in thick and
chunky wooden styles. This style also continues into autumn with seemingly
higher (is that possible?) heels and even chunkier styles. Check out the unique
designs prevalent on the Marc Jacobs catwalk this fall (below).

Riding boots
Boots are a great fall staple as they keep your feet and legs dry from rain
and slush. This year we’ll be wearing equestrian style boots – knee high styles
in patent black with low to mid heels. Dolce & Gabbana showed off a chic pair
of knee-highs with detailing around the ankle while Zac Posen opted for a solid
black style, minus embellishments. Chanel, however, went above and beyond
ending their boots at the thigh.

Buckle details
Another major trend is the buckle details on both low, mid and high heels, as
well as on boots. Chloé showed an adorable pair of chunky sky-high heels with
triple buckling down the front. Burberry Prorsum presented a pair of cute heels
with an extra large buckle in front, while Bottega Veneta opted for smaller,
more discreet hardware on their purple heels.
