Trend: Animal Instinct
Leopard prints, the perfect compliment to any outfit?
By Christina Eriksson 26th May 2006
Do leopard prints leave you thinking jungle fever or faux living room throws?
Don’t be fooled, catty patters are this season’s must-have. Trend setters
like Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and Gwen Stefani all share this style, in
flowing scarves, printed pumps and decorated dresses.
Stefani, a big fan of the “wilder” side of fashion, is often seen in amazingly
paired prints and solids. From red and turquoise dresses with inserts of
leopard to devilishly high heels covered in the feisty pattern. She knows
how to work her look!

Give your own outfits a punch this summer by including the same sassy
accessory. Animal prints are a great way to add a little something extra—to
make your outfit a hit! Pair them with any solid color for the perfect
contrast. Black is always safe but there’s no need to limit your palette.
Still afraid you’ll be the laughing stock in that untamed skirt? Don’t fret—as
I always say: don’t overdo the trend. Limit yourself to one printed piece at a
time and coordinate your other items around it.
Check out the celebrity inspiration below and learn to mastermind your own
pairings. As Stefani proves, a leopard dress, black and white details, topped
of with red lips and nails equal an instant fashion chart topper!
