Mark&Estel Clothing
This cool clothing label is going to rock your socks

I recently interviewed designers Mark and Estel of Mark&Estel clothing and was
amazed by their cool vibe. Their label is all about comfort and after trying
out a long, white, v-neck t-shirt by Mark&Estel I found that they aren’t joking
when they say they focus on making their customers feel comfortable in their
clothing. My Mark&Estel t-shirt has definitely become a favorite in my
wardrobe! Mark&Estel clothing is rumored to be a favorite of celebrities like
Mary-Kate Olsen, who is often seen in their loose tank tops and comfortable
dresses.
Mark and Estel are multi-talented as they do not only run their own clothing
label, they also create music and do an amazing job at that too! This duo is

When did you start up your Mark&Estel?
E: The clothing label Mark and Estel started around beginning 2005.
What inspired you to create Mark&Estel?
M: We were often involved in Fashion related projects before; Fashion
has always been fun and a passion for us. We wanted our own clothing label
because we felt we had something to contribute, so many ideas. Inspiration
comes to me from the want to create something that other people can enjoy.
E: We also realized that working together we share many visions, and
it felt right, so we began.
What would you say is the best and worst part about running your own
clothing label with a partner?
E: For us, working together has been wonderful. We agree on a lot of
things, and we compliment each other, each adding to the other's ideas.
What inspires "Mark&Estel" clothing?
E: So many inspirations. We draw inspiration from everywhere, going so
far as a color we saw in nature, or a dream I had while sleeping. To us it is
like writing a song or painting a picture, only there is the added point that
we pay close attention to comfort for the people who will wear our designs as
well.
M: So another source of inspiration is the fun that we want people to
have from our designs.
Some celebrities have purchased your clothing, which celebrities are you
most excited to see wearing Mark&Estel clothing?
M: We are exited to see anyone wearing our line. The other day I saw a
girl wearing a Mark and Estel, and I asked her about how she liked it, and she
said she owned eight of them. That made my day. As far as celebrities, we met
Mary-Kate Olson, and she was really cool to us. We are happy that she wears our
stuff.
Which items are your personal favorites from your collections?
M: My favorite (right now- it always changes) is the ripped dress and
the shredded tank.
E: My favorites are the Long Loose Tank, The Finished Rounded V, and the
Cap Sleeve V...
Is Mark&Estel run with the small staff of Mark and Estel or do you have several
employees working with you to create your clothing items?
M: The designs are ours, and we work with different people at different
times to achieve exactly the final outcome that we have in mind. It depends on
the design. We consider our production a fine art, and we are picky in
achieving final results and thereby have different methods for different
pieces. Some of the more involved pieces we hand make ourselves.
Another big part of the Mark&Estel label is your music, how long
have you been making music and who or what inspired you to start making
music?
M: Again with the music also, it is something we have been involved with
for a long time. It is just something we do. The inspiration for our music
happens all the time.
E: To me, expression through music is necessary. Writing a song is like
being in a dream. I feel lucky that we can share that.
Would you say "there's no fashion without music" or "no music without fashion"?
M: They are both part of us. We think there are always both somehow. I
feel our music goes with our fashion and as a creative form is related.
Are Mark&Estel items only available through your website? Any plans of
opening up a store?
E: There are several stores that carry our line in U.S.A., and we want
to be carried at more and more stores, in Europe also. As far as our own stores
in the future, we don't know yet.
